Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: identity and contact details; membership and application information; identity numbers where required for membership or credit assessment; financial information where you apply for credit or business support; order and complaint details; website technical data (for example IP address, device and pages viewed); and communications you send us.
Purpose of collection
We use personal information to administer membership; communicate; process orders and complaints; assess applications; meet legal and regulatory duties (including NCR-related duties where credit is involved); improve the website; and protect Lengau, members and the public against fraud and abuse.
Lawful basis / justification
Processing is typically based on one or more of: your consent (where we ask for it); performance of a contract or steps to enter a contract; a legal obligation; or Lengau's legitimate interests that do not override your rights, as POPIA allows.
Membership, identity and financial information
Membership records, identity numbers and financial information are used only for the purposes for which they were collected (or a compatible purpose permitted by law). They are not sold as a marketing list.

We may contact you about your membership, orders, complaints or applications. Marketing messages, where sent, should allow you to opt out as required by law.
Third-party processors and service providers
We may use service providers to host the website, send email, process forms, store files or provide communications (for example WhatsApp as a channel you choose to use). Providers should process information only on Lengau's instructions and with appropriate safeguards, so far as reasonably practicable.
Cross-border transfers
Some hosting or email infrastructure may process data outside South Africa. Where that occurs, Lengau seeks to do so in a manner consistent with POPIA, including appropriate contractual or other safeguards where required.
Data security
Lengau implements reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website or organisation can claim absolute security.
Retention
Information is kept for as long as needed for the purpose collected, and for legal, tax, credit-regulatory and dispute-related periods where those apply, then deleted or de-identified as reasonably practicable.
Data subject rights, access and correction
Subject to POPIA, you may request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, and in some cases deletion or restriction. Use the Contact page or +27 60 709 4406. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
Complaints
Raise privacy concerns with Lengau first via Complaints. You may also approach the Information Regulator (South Africa) where POPIA provides that right.

Security incident handling
If Lengau becomes aware of a security compromise affecting personal information, it will assess the incident and notify affected persons and the Information Regulator where POPIA requires that.
