Donation & Voluntary Contribution Policy
This policy protects members and Lengau People's Society by keeping donations, membership contributions, purchases, credit payments and optional services clearly separate.
Never describe a compulsory payment as a donation.
A donation must be genuinely voluntary
A donation must not be disguised as a compulsory membership fee, a compulsory product charge, a compulsory service charge, an unexplained surcharge, or a condition for ordinary participation unless that condition is legally justified and clearly disclosed in advance.
What every donation request should identify
- Purpose
- Recipient
- Amount or suggested amount
- Voluntary nature
- Intended use
- Authorisation
- Appropriate reporting and accountability
How this sits with other payments
Membership contributions, product purchases, loan or credit repayments and optional paid services are not donations. Mixing these labels creates disputes and legal risk. See the Member Agreement and private contribution page where those channels exist.
Law takes precedence
This policy is an organisational instrument. It does not override South African law, including consumer, tax and non-profit rules that may apply to a particular collection. Contact +27 60 709 4406 or Contact with questions.
