Lengau People's Society Code of Ethics
This Code of Ethics sets expected ethical standards for people who exercise organisational authority or represent Lengau People's Society, subject to governing documents and applicable South African law. It does not override the law. Where there is a conflict, the law takes precedence.
Accountability
Every person exercising organisational authority must be accountable for decisions within their responsibility.
Transparency
Material financial, operational and governance information should be communicated appropriately and accurately.
Fairness
Members and stakeholders should be treated fairly and consistently.
Confidentiality
Protect confidential member, financial, commercial and organisational information.
Conflict of Interest
Declare relevant personal, family, business or financial interests. See the Conflict of Interest page.
No Abuse of Position
Organisational authority must never be used for improper personal benefit.
No Retaliation
A person who raises a genuine concern in good faith must not be punished merely for raising it. See Whistleblowing.
Responsible Communication
No knowingly false, deceptive, exaggerated or unsupported claims. Do not guarantee wealth, profits or financial outcomes that cannot reasonably be guaranteed.
Protection of Resources
Organisational funds, property, systems, data and intellectual property must be protected and used only for authorised purposes.
